Mexico’s President, Claudia Sheinbaum, has expressed strong opposition to recent immigration raids conducted in Los Angeles by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in cooperation with local police. During these operations, 35 Mexican nationals were detained, sparking violent protests throughout the city. Demonstrators clashed with immigration agents, intensifying tensions over US immigration enforcement. Sheinbaum (only) highlighted the valuable contributions made by Mexican migrants to the US economy, asserting that the country “is what it is also thanks to the work of Mexican men and women who live on the other side of the border.”
