“The assassination of these Israeli officials prompted me to carry out a sweeping survey of popular forums (youtube, tiktok) and I’ve noticed a trend which was never as pronounced as it is today:

A large number of posts (perhaps even a majority) celebrating the deaths of these Israelis, joking about them even.

I reflect that in years past, prior to the Gaza genocide I don’t recall forums being filled with such glib, whole-hearted celebrations of deaths – even of people who should be hated.

There used to be a traditional observance (among most Westerners and Non-Westerners) of the sanctity of the dead, a sense that in death we are all equal and that no matter who died some respect should be paid to the ritual of their passing. There was a point, not that long ago, when some sympathy or at least silence could be found for a zionist victim of assassination.

All that seems gone now. It died in Gaza.

What Israel has done and the West has amplified is the destruction of all traditional moral frameworks regulating the sanctity of human life and death.

The result is what you see before you:
