I guess I am ahead of the pack here at TBP on the level on cynicism.

The carriers are bait……Trump and Israel (especially) want them destroyed by an Iranian hypersonic missile with the loss of all hands (5500 people)….that would be the justification for nuclear retaliation. Iran is the weakest of the three legged stool opposing American hegemony (Iran, Russia and China)…..Nuking Iran cements Trumps legacy, provides emotional closure on the 1979 hostage crisis and pushes the Greater Israel project into overdrive……all while fucking up Russia and China both economically, militarily and most importantly in credibility.

So in two weeks the USS Ford will be lallygagging around the Straits of Hormuz hoping to provoke a launch by Iran…….and we will start biting them if that doesn’t work…..it’s coming boys and girls.

Even blocking the straits works for Trump…..price of oil goes to $300+/bbl and the world goes into an instant depression but the US fares better than most and his donors make bonkers amount of money supplying oil to everybody cut off from the ME.
