Most thought-provoking reader comment of the week [2/23/20206]

From Moon of Alabama comments section:

Kevin Walmsley (Inside China Business) details how the lack of access to gallium has the Pentagon taking deliveries of F35s without radar, but instead having ballast placed in the nose to maintain the weight and balance profile.

I wrote about this over a year ago that China would slowly deprive the West of the materials to manufacture military materiel. No shots fired.

Paraphrasing my friend Exile, “supply chain embargoes bring peace”.

Today, gallium. There are dozens more critical inputs that only China can provide at scale…

My theory is that this is why they need the West to fire interceptors off and to deplete air defense launcher stocks in Ukraine and Israel. China already outproduces America 200 to 1 when it comes to ships.

The trajectory is an inevitable wind-down into being a good (weaker) global citizen.

Before any America Bros freak out, the US can print trillions of dollars by the end of the week, but if there is no gallium, there will be no new radars or F35s.
