If any of Iran’s oil or gas facilities are attacked, Iran can take out oil and gas production facilities across the Gulf States. (Lord knows, it doesn’t take much to set oil facilities ablaze) They’ll start with facilities that are co-owned by American corporations like Exxon.

Israel has only two oil refineries and two gas fields. All four are vulnerable to hypersonic missile attack.

The four million Israelis who live in Tel Aviv are completely dependent on one large power station, and one large water desalination facility. If Iraqi power plants are attacked, they become obvious targets.

If Israel were to nuke Iran, or attack the Bushehr nuclear reactor in Tehran, Iran can drop half a dozen hypersonic missiles on the Israeli nuclear reactor at Dimona with less than five minutes warning – too little time to initiate a shutdown. (If a nuclear reactor is shut down before it is bombed, the radiation damage would be be awful but somewhat localized. If an active nuclear reactor is hit, expect a Chernobyl-level disaster to spread radiation across most of Israel and parts of Egypt and Jordan.)

Iran’s position has been helped by America continually demonstrating to the world that it cannot be trusted. The US tried to pretend that Lebanon was not part of the ceasefire agreement even though the President of Pakistan says it clearly was. After Donald Trump tweeted that he had accepted Iran’s ten-point plan as a basis for negotiations, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt says the US had thrown that ten point plan in the garbage. The world sees all this.
